“Design Validation and CMFT Study through XR ”
A series of immersive XR experiences developed for multiple clients across automotive, product and railways design domains. These experiences were designed as active design tools, enabling teams to evaluate, configure, and validate concepts before physical prototyping.
The experiences were built using Unity for real-time interaction and Blender for 3D asset creation and optimization, delivering AR, VR, and MR experiences. Deployment across HTC Vive Pro enabled high-fidelity, room-scale design reviews, while the Meta Quest series supported standalone and mixed-reality workflows allowing flexible, immersive design validation across different client needs.

The user flow was designed to be intuitive and purpose-driven, guiding users from an initial orientation and scale setup into focused exploration modes such as form review, CMFT configuration, and comparison.

UI buttons with physical press behaviour were used to make interactions feel familiar and tactile, ensuring that clients across age groups could engage intuitively especially for users who may find abstract gestures or complex XR controls difficult to adapt to.
Sensory
The sensory layer focuses on the perceived experience created by XR where scale, depth, motion, and presence combine to evoke realistic spatial and emotional responses. Through controlled viewpoints, transitions, and interaction feedback, the experiences simulate real-world perception while remaining digitally constructed, allowing users to feel the design before it exists physically.
Staging
Staging treats the XR experience as a directed environment rather than a neutral space. Lighting, environment context, camera positions, and object placement are carefully composed much like a director framing a scene to highlight form, surface quality, and material behavior. This ensures that what the user sees is intentional, legible, and aligned with the design narrative.
Interpretation
The final layer is interpretation where virtual inputs translate into real design decisions. By combining sensory immersion with deliberate staging, XR becomes a medium for understanding, not illusion. What users experience virtually informs tangible outcomes, bridging the gap between digital exploration and real-world validation.
